Check in| Check out Book

October 29, 2019August 3, 2022 Post a comment

I’ve talked before about how important I believe it is to check in with students and gauge how they are doing.

Over the years, I’ve tried to make different check in systems work, but with so many kids (I used to be K-4) and different needs, I couldn’t find one that worked for everyone. At the same time, I hated having a million visuals all over my walls, which was visually overwhelming for me, so I assume my kids as well.

Two years ago, I created a “check in, check out” book with my most used systems, and used it for over a year with my students. Earlier this year, I added all of the visuals I used and put in on TPT!

I really like that this is independently used by almost all of my students-even my preschooler can use this emoji page!

I use it both ways, some kiddos like to use dryers markers, and some prefer velcro. I let them do whichever they like.

I can literally use this with my whole caseload now that I’ve added on the extra pages…

I even have a page for the student that “can’t pick one” (haha).

What do you use to check in with your kiddos?
