I love this quick, easy tool for a variety of circumstances. This student interview takes 5 minutes, and is great for the start of the year, and getting to know new students, connecting with students you start to work with as the year goes on, and including information from the source in evaluations. We gather so much information from teachers, parents and staff, that I love to include this as well.

What is it?  A 5 minute, informal student interview that asks a variety of general questions about home and school life.

How do I use it?  As I mentioned above, I use this in a variety of settings. I set it up with most students by telling them I want to interview them like they are a famous person or celebrity, and want to learn more about them. I explain that there is no pressure, and I like them to answer questions honestly. Like most of the other forms I have discussed here, I print these off in a folder and keep them in my evaluation protocol drawer.

Create it: What do you want to know about your students? Their likes, their dislikes? Things that they are struggling with? Create a template of your own. I like to spring for Astrobrite Paper and print my forms off on that to keep things fun and exciting 🙂

Or Use Mine: Mine is nothing special, but it works for me. See it here! My favorite question to ask on this (and for kids to answer!) is the 3 wishes question!

So, take some time and create this student interview that you can use throughout the school year for a variety of pruposes!
