I’m excited to share a truly fabulous book today…one I didn’t know how much I needed in my collection!

The National Center for Youth Issues is so great and sharing resources that we, as Psychs, Counselors, Social Workers and Educators can use to support our kids, and this one is no exception.

The book, What’s Inside Your Backpack by Jessica Sinarksy, is about a little girl named Zoey, who has been through some big changes and trauma, and as a result, is carrying around a lot of big feelings in her “backpack”.  Some adults in her life help her to recognize that she is not alone in this,  and to create some bright thoughts as bookmarks for the heavy feelings.

I love the metaphors in this book and also the concrete tool that it teaches. As you can see, my daughter and I created some bookmarks of our own!
