Gifts for School Psychologists & More

Now that SPAW celebrations have settled, it’s time to think about the Holidays!  I’m always so grateful when parents think of me during the holidays, and I like to do something small for my SPED team if I can get it together in time.  Here are some ideas!

For the School Psychologist

Psychologists need energy, and most of us get that from caffeine.  It’s the fuel for report writing!  What’s better to inspire writing about the way our brains work than a brain mug.  You could totally bring this to meetings to impress!

I also am OBSESSED with these mugs ( I use this one for iced coffee and travel and this one at home daily), because they keep beverages hot or cold for the entire day! I know they aren’t Yeti ones, but I have little kids, so I can’t have nice things. 🙂

When I posed the question to all my fabulous fellow School Psychs on Instagram, the overwhelming #1 response was gift cards!  I feel like gift cards are impersonal sometimes, but they are so useful, right?  This year I’m giving my daughter’s teachers gift cards with a tiny handmade gift to make it more personal.

This melting snowman or ice cream cone is the cutest thing.  I love when parents gift me little things they know I can use in my office and will love.  They have a variety of these, but essentially you build and design the snowman and then watch him melt down.  It’s kind of like a snowman version of a Buddha Board.  I love it!

Along the same lines, I once was gifted an adorable Zen garden like this one.  I love this one for out of young student reach, but will warn you that when kids use this one, they will get the sand/rocks out of place, and if you are like me, that will drive you bonkers.  Adults only, haha.

One of my favorite things about working in an elementary school was that I felt like I could basically dress like Ms. Frizzle everyday and the kids would love it.  These sneakers make me think of that and have been very popular in our school psychologist groups!

My entire graduate school years centered around Friends quotes, so I dream of getting us all back together in these matching tees.  I also love this one  (note, this is not the one pictured above.  I wouldn’t reccomend the one I ordered, as it was not vinyl).

Funny Gifts

For the coworker that you always go to for a laugh…

I need someone to buy me this mug.  I probably need one for home too.

Or, this glass, for Fridays especially.

I saw this cup at Target the other day and was veryyyy tempted to get it for meetings.  Or this one.  (Guilty!)

For coworkers

I like to get my friends from school and coworkers something small.  Some years I get it together, some I don’t!

I have gotten personalized pencils a few times, and these ones are adorable!  This is a cute and easy gift-order, receive, stick a ribbon on them, and DONE.

I’ve also ordered personalized notepads for my SPED team.  I love this gift!

Finally, the easiest gift I like to give to coworkers is sweets!  I pick up a bunch of cookies from my favorite bakery, or fill a mason jar with yummy chocolate and tie a ribbon around it.  So easy and sweet!

Finally, I kid you not when I tell you that my all time favorite gift I have gotten from a student is artwork.  A random, but so adorable fish.  I have it laminated now, and the thing has traveled with me to 3 schools.  I love it, and those handmade gifts mean so much.

What are your favorites to give or receive?
