End of the school year: To do List

May 30, 2019November 7, 2019 Post a comment

Our kids have 11 more school days, but with 2 more evaluations left, it doesn’t seem too near yet!

End of the School Year To do List

Even if I don’t get to wrap everything up before the last school day, I make sure to take time every year to get certain things done to set myself up for success.  I shared about it a few years ago, and much of what I do is still the same!

  • Clean my office.  My goal this year is to find at least 2 out of the 3 Jenga blocks I’m missing.  But for real, I go through all my shelves, desk drawers, etc. and have everything nice and tidy for the Fall.
  • Inventory.  I make a list of all my protocols, putty, games, etc. and figure out what I need for the year ahead.
  • Organize my computer/google files.  I NEED an organized filing system before I leave.  This means I go through my computer student files and google drive and put everything into folders.

  • Prep beginning of the year information.  The first few days of school fill up fast, so I prep what I can for the Fall.  The main thing I do is prepare 504 plans for classroom teachers and specialists to hand out in the Fall, so that teachers can have this info. right away when they get back.
  • Highlight important dates for the new year.  I usually have a good idea of what my caseload will be in terms of special education and 504 kids, so I like ot make a list ahead of time of annual and triennial dates, especially for those that tend to sneak up in the Fall!
  • Make a Fall “to do” list.  This may seem a little much, but again, the start of the year can be so chaotic sometimes!  I often have things to do like to meet with paraprofessionals about kids, or team meetings at the start of the year, so I make a list of all of these for the Fall.

And that’s what I do for the end of the year.  I also have a summer to do list that I will be sharing more about in the coming weeks!
